May Mission Month: Dumplings with Anne

For our May Mission Family Fun night, Anne teaches us to make dumplings!

Ingredient List

The Chicken can be swapped out for whatever type of mince you would like.

Dough

  • 300g Flour (high protein flour or just plain flour)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 150ml water

For Chicken and Cabbage Filling

  • 400g chicken mince
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp garlic
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • PepperĀ 
  • 1/4 tsp five spice powder
  • Salt
  • 600g dried Chinese cabbage (chopped finely) soaked in water with 2tbsp salt for a little while, then squeeze water out of it. Ends up being about 300g.
  • 2 heaped tbsp of chopped shallots (1 tbsp of hot vegetable oil poured on top)

For Chicken and Shiitake Mushrooms Filling:

  • 400g chicken mince
  • 6 Shiitake mushrooms (soaked overnight in water)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp garlic
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Water from mushrooms
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp five spice powder
  • Pepper
  • Salt 
  • 3/4 finely diced carrots
  • 2 heaped tbsp of chopped shallots (2 tbsp of hot vegetable oil poured on top)

    Somebody get on the phone as quick as possible and tell the producers of the channel Ten show “Master Chef” to cancel the rest of the series as there is no point going any further. We already know whom the winner should be. “Anne” by a mile. Fantastic Anne and most enjoyable to watch and learn from. I am pretty good at heating up tinned spaghetti. ha.
